A classic cottage garden biennial grown for both its spring flowers and its iconic, translucent seedpods. Lunaria annua is also known as Honesty or Money Plant, and is a favorite among florists for dried arrangements.
This variety produces charming violet-purple or pure white blooms in spring, followed by decorative flat seedpods that shimmer like silver coins. The plants are easy to grow, self-sow freely, and thrive even in partial shade or poor soil.

Though the flowers are delicate and short-lived, the real treasure lies in the seedpods — each plant can produce 20–30 stems heavily laden with flat, coin-like seed cases. These can be harvested fresh while green or left to mature for a silvery, papery finish.
Sowing Instructions
- Direct sowing: Best sown directly in autumn or early spring in 3 mm deep drills spaced 30 cm apart. Keep soil moist until germination and thin seedlings to 15 cm.
- Indoor sowing: Sow onto loam-based compost; lightly cover with a thin layer of grit. Maintain warmth at 18°C for 6–8 weeks, then cold stratify at 5°C for another 6–8 weeks. Return to warmth to trigger germination. Repeat warm–cold cycle if needed.
- Note: Germination can be slow and erratic — patience is key.
Growing Notes
- Thrives in less-than-perfect spots — including part shade and poor soil
- Avoid excessive feeding or manure
- Minimal maintenance once established
Harvesting & Drying
- Harvest seedheads in late summer to autumn when pods are mature and paper-like
- Peel off the green outer layer to reveal luminous, silvery discs
- To dry: Hang stems upside down in a warm, dark place for 2–3 weeks
Dried seedpods are fragile — handle with care once dried.

It's 2 panels holding 1 big privacy screen. Can't use as 2 separate 4' panels, but works great.

This 2 panel privacy screen works well. Assembly was very straight forward, with easily labeled tubes. My son and I had it together in about 10 minutes, which was probably 3 minutes of me telling him to quit playing around and hand me the parts. It feels very sturdy, not likely to fall over or anything. The material fits well, with the Velcro being very strong. Measurements are all very accurate, with all pieces attaching properly. We have a similar privacy screen at work that we have to try and stretch out because the top and bottom Velcro doesn't fit quite right... this model does not have any issues though. The material is thin and light weight, but solid black so that you can't see anything through or behind it. I definitely think it's a great deal for the money.
What I think would have given it 5 stars though, is if you had 2 totally separate 4' panels instead of 2 panels with one big screen. It really wouldn't cost any extra to make it so that the screen was in 2 pieces and you could use it as 2 separate panels instead of having to use it as one big panel. It says 2 panel folding privacy screens, but it's really one big one that folds in the middle.

Turning One Big Room into Two

My apartment is basically one big open space, so my living room, dining table, and “office” used to all blend together. After I got this screen, the whole layout finally makes sense. I set it up in the middle and now I have a clear work side and a chill side, and my background for video calls looks way more professional. This divider is a fixed style, so when you set it down it forms a nice straight line. Visually it really feels like a light, mini wall, which is perfect for breaking up a large area. It’s tall and long enough that it actually blocks what you want to hide, so you get real privacy, not just a decorative panel. The woven texture looks nice up close and doesn’t feel cheap, and the color is easy to match with other furniture. It’s not overly heavy either and I can slide it to a new spot by myself when I want to change the room layout.
