🌿Jade Vine Grow and Care Instructions🌿

~ Grow Instructions ~

Plant is not cold or frost hardy and needs humidity to thrive and be seen at its best so a well lit and heated greenhouse or conservatory will be ideally needed but in colder climates we recommend growing in a large pot or container so it can be moved if cold spells are forecasted. Can be started indoors without any problems though.
Keep above 10 degrees minimum, above this temperature then it should be fine but may slow growth the closer to this it gets. Thrives at up to 60 F and with high humidity but can be grown steadily at much lower temperatures and humidity levels. Common sense is needed at judging how your plant looks and what you can do to help it along. Remember that the Jade Vine loves full sun to partial shade.
Jade vine seeds don't really require any pre-treatment but I recommend scarifying the seed coat SLIGHTLY, NOT too much! Some fine sand paper should do the trick and please take care not to damage the embryo as this will instantly kill your very rare seed. If in doubt then do not scarify.
You can also choose to soak the seeds for 2 to 4 hours in warm sterile water before sowing if you wish also but again this is down to preference. Whilst your seeds are soaking you can use this time to prepare your growing medium in a seed starting tray that can be placed in a heated propagator that has a clear lid or even on a heat mat / warming cables as heat is required at around 25 - 30 degrees to achieve germination.

Another method is to use a heat mat, seed starting tray and a clear plastic bag that can be sealed.  You are basically trying to achieve humidity which will encourage seed germination, so any method similar to these may be adopted.
Water the growing medium thoroughly and leave to stand for 45 minutes to 1 hour to allow proper drainage to occur.
Sow your Jade vine seed at 1/4 to a 1/3 of an inch deep in the well draining potting mix of 50 /50 fibrous plant material (tree fern) and one of, or a combination of these - perlite / vermiculite / fine grit.
The growing medium needs to be moist but not wet to avoid the seeds from rotting off.
Part of the seed may be visible, very slightly protruding above the soil surface but this is normal and you are doing it correctly but make sure too much is not exposed (very slightly visible and slightly covered)!
Please make sure you check on the seed and growing medium as you do not want to allow the growing medium to become too dry so are application or misting may be required at some point.
If all is done correctly then you should see your seedling begin to emerge within 1 - 2 weeks although it can take up to 3 weeks in some instances.
Important: Keep the growing medium at a steady moist level. Do not over water your jade vine seed or it will kill your plant. Just slightly damp to moist.
Once your young jade vine seedling produces several sets of true leaves and looks more robust it can be transplanted into a 3 - 6 inch plant pot (depending on size - you will have to judge this for yourself) of a very well draining humus rich soil with a small amount of 'low & equal parts fertilizer.

*Please remember that this is a vine and requires a structure to cling to.

Seedlings will remain in these pots until they are totally pot bound upon which time they can be placed in a large container or in warmer climates into the ground where they can live out their days providing glorious blooms.

~ Care Instructions ~

Since most of us may not reside in a suitable area, growing jade vine as a houseplant is the best option. Jade vine care requires giving the plant plenty of direct sunlight and temperatures above 60 degrees F. (15 C.), as lower temperatures may damage the roots. Your plant will be happiest in a clay pot that allows the roots to breathe. Use a peat-based potting mix that drains easily. Provide a sturdy trellis for the vine to climb or place your plant in a hanging basket (until it becomes too heavy).

Water jade vine only when the top of the soil is visibly dry, then water slowly until excess moisture drips through the drainage hole. Although the plant thrives in high humidity, it tolerates normal room humidity. However, if your room is very dry, you can increase the humidity around the plant by setting the pot on a tray with a layer of damp pebbles. Jade vine plants aren’t heavy feeders and a mixture of ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml.) of water-soluble fertilizer per gallon (4 L.) of water is plenty. Feed the plant twice a month during spring and summer and withhold fertilizer during fall and winter. Any type of balanced fertilizer is suitable, or you can use a fertilizer formulated for blooming plants.

Trim your jade vine plant after blooming but be careful of hard pruning because the plant blooms on both old and new growth; hard pruning will delay blooming

Thank you so very much for supporting my small business!!! 🪴Happy Planting🪴

💚 Best Wishes, Your Plant Bitch (Quinn)

Chicken Flavor Good, But 🔄 Rotation-Resistant✖; Best for Simpler Chewers
Size: X-Small, Color: Ring Bone, Size: X-Small, Color: Ring Bone
🐾 Hi, I’m PVD; plush sophisticate, chew critic, and active curator of rotational toy relevance. This ring bone and I never fully bonded. I sampled it maybe five times in my entire puppyhood before quietly returning it to the bin (with a single judgmental glance). Still, it does have value for the right pup. ⭐ Why I originally wanted to love it: ✔️ XS size works well for very young puppies ✔️ Chicken flavor lasts impressively long ✔️ Freezing offers temporary gum relief ✔️ Durable and safe; no odd odors or shredding 🌀 Why it’s now a respectful 3-star chew in my rotation: ✘ Never became a go-to toy (5 uses max in my life) ✘ Ring shape felt awkward, not natural or chic; hard to grip and maneuver ✘ Texture too tame vs. nubs or detailed chew surfaces ✘ When I was smaller, I much preferred the Nylabone Baby Blue Bone Chew Toy with nubs (my personal classic), and have since matured into nightly Nylabone “Nubz” edible bones This Ring Bone is Best For: • Very young puppies with minimal chew preferences • Dogs who like simple textures and circular shapes • Those just starting enrichment chew play • Freezer treat rotations (briefly) 🚫 Not ideal for: picky pups, advanced chewers, or dogs who analyze toy ergonomics (like myself). 📝 Final Re-Barks: A strong, well-made chew, but lacked the intrigue to make my permanent rotation. Works for basic chew enjoyment; not for pups with elevated taste or toy ambition. — PVD (Chew Strategist, Textural Analyst & Aspire-to-Vine Reviewer 🐶💼)

Puppy loves it!
Size: X-Large, Color: Teething Bone, Size: X-Large, Color: Teething Bone
My small puppy loves this bone! I originally purchased this for a larger dog, but my small 10 pound puppy loves it more. It’s good quality and a softer material for puppies!

A hit, but could be stronger
Size: Medium, Color: Ring Bone, Size: Medium, Color: Ring Bone
Gave this to my 11 week old pittie, and she did significant damage within 15 mins. She left a pile of chewed bits on the couch but thankfully didn't eat them. Definitely don't leave unsupervised. That said, she LOVED it and it seemed to help her teething gums so, I'm still giving it a 4/5 Puppy pics for tax

FOR SHORT TIME USE
Size: X-Small, Color: Ring Bone
My puppies love this. After a couple of weeks, it is worn so I throw it out and buy another since it's reasonably priced. I don't want them to actually ingest a chunk of this.

Great for our puppy
Size: X-Small, Color: Ring Bone
This chew toy has quickly become our puppy’s absolute favorite. She’s just starting to teethe, and keeping her busy and comfortable has definitely been a challenge, but this ring has been a lifesaver. She was interested in it right away and keeps coming back to it on her own, which is a huge win. The chicken flavor seems to really hold her attention, and it gives her something appropriate to chew instead of everything else. It’s the perfect size for a very young puppy and easy for her to hold and gnaw on without getting frustrated. It keeps her occupied, helps soothe her gums, and gives us a much-needed break during those teething moments. If you have a puppy just starting the teething phase and need something safe, durable, and engaging, this is an excellent choice and one I’d happily buy again.
